Don't you hate flossing your teeth? It's literally one of the things I hate most to do. I can never find a type of floss that works well with my gums, doesn't cause them to bleed, and hurt.  I had the opportunity to review this Water Flosser by Gurin, and decided to see how it works.

Let me tell you, it hurts.  At least it does me.  I know it's because I don't take good enough care of my teeth and gums, so I am trying to start now with this handy gadget.
It makes a mess. I'm not gonna lie, it does.  Before you turn it on, put it in your mouth.
THEN turn it on, and I highly recommend using the "soft" function, because even on "soft" it hurts my gums.  I try to outline my teeth with the water flosser, and I can feel it going between my gums, and teeth. It is definitely effective, and worth continuing to do.

I've been skipping days to try to give my gums a break because it does hurt.  They'll toughen up soon, so I am sticking with it.  No doubt about it, it sure beats using floss, and not to mention floss is stinky to use after you are pulling gunk out of your teeth. It gets on your fingertips, and hands, and it's just gross!  With this machine, it's all hands off.  Nothing gets on your hands except maybe a bit of water depending on how you hold it.

Now, the only thing that really irks me about this machine is having to refill it numerous times. I refill it at least 3 times, but sometimes as much as 5.  It's probably because I'm still not used to it yet, but I barely get my front teeth all done before it turns off.  Then I refill, do one side top and bottom, and then refill and do the other side top and bottom.  Sometimes, I go back over all of my teeth again, especially the front ones.

It's easy to recharge, you just plug it into the cable, and charge it overnight.  I have not had to recharge it just yet, so I am not sure how many times I can use it without recharging it.  It seems to still have strong power, and I've used it at least 9 times, so, maybe once a week charging, possibly once every two weeks.

It does come with 2 flosser heads, so if you want to share it with someone, they can have their own.  It does say to let it dry between uses, so I try to shake it all out of the reservoir, and I keep the little flap open as well to allow air to get in.

Terra Friendly Solar Night Light with Snuggle Cover

I was provided this product at a discount in exchange for my honest review. All opinions and images are my own. This post may contain affiliate links. Disclosure statement.

This beautiful solar lantern by TerraFriendly has quickly become one of my favorite solar items!  I can't seem to get enough solar products in my life....truly, and when this one came along, it is so unique I just had to try it out.

I LOVE fall, pumpkins, and leaves, so when I saw the pumpkin design, I didn't even have to look at what other designs they had available. This one was for me!
When I ordered it, I didn't realize the design is a removable sleeve.  That's awesome, because you aren't stuck with a design you may not like, and you can also use it as a bright light without the sleeve on it.  See image below.

Is this not one of the coolest things you've ever seen?  It's inflatable!
It comes in a box about 6" x 6" x 2".  Very small and thin.  I was so surprised at how compact it is when deflated.  It even works that way too if you wish to not blow it up.

The top of it has a battery life level on it to show you how much charge it has.
Just leave it in the sun for 6 hours or so, and you'll get a charge for 8 or more hours.  It can be used as a nightlight, or a light to brighten up the area you are in, or as a flashlight even.  You can use it in water, as it's completely waterproof.  Toss it in the air, and play ball with it in the dark.  Use it on a boat, kayak, or canoe for an evening ride on the lake. Picnic on the beach at night, or as a nightlight in your room.
So many uses for this item, and I'd love to get one to keep in the car for emergencies too.

Each end has a plastic handle that you can use to hang it up with, or to make it easy to carry.  This has 10 led lights in it, and as you can see, it's pretty bright!  Much brighter than I thought.  When you put the sleeve on it, it is so pretty with a glow about it. Still bright enough to see whatever you need to see.

This also comes in other designs, but so far, most of them are for kids  This is really the only adult design I saw when I ordered it, but it would be easy enough to make one of your own to slide on it, or wrap around it closing it with velcro.  The sleeve provided is very easy to slide on and off with no problem at all.  I did just look, and they do have a few other patterns available now that I didn't see before, and one of them is a constellation pattern. That would be neat!

It's a very cool item, and would love a dozen more of these to have around, and to give as gifts.  If you are looking for a unique gift for someone that has everything, this is it!  I can't think of anyone who wouldn't like to have this solar light.

If you'd like to see other reviews on it, or see the other patterns, they do have more styles available now.  Please click the image at the top or bottom of this post to take you to the Amazon product listing. Thank you for stopping by!

My Konjac Sponge Product Review

I was provided this product for free in exchange for my honest review. All opinions and images are my own. This post may contain affiliate links. Disclosure statement.

http://amzn.to/1LHKsbf

This was the first Konjac sponge I had ever used. I am very familiar with Konjac root or Glucomannan fiber in my diet in pill form, or in the form of noodles or powder, and have used it for many years. When I saw it in sponge form, well, I just had to try it out. What an oddity it is!

I chose to try the Konjac with charcoal, as I love charcoal's purifying and detoxing properties. It is just lovely as a sponge! This konjac sponge in the image above is from MyKonjac company. It is in a tear drop shape which lends to contouring around your nose/cheek area very well. It's a sponge, so it pretty much fits anywhere, but it seems to help me wash that area more I suppose.

It's very hard when you take it out of the package, and all you need to do is run it under water or soak it in a bowl for a minute, and it softens right up. Then it's ready to use as is, or with any cleanser you like. I prefer using it alone.

MyKonjac sponge does not have any odor whatsoever. Having mcs, that is essential for me. I tried another brand, by LuxxHealth, and it smelled like burnt hair, and stayed with me for several days at a time. I just couldn't stomach it. Probably natural, and had to do with how they process their sponge with the charcoal, but the odor was so annoying, I couldn't handle it. So, MyKonjac is my sponge of choice of the two.

There are many other companies also making Konjac sponges, but I have no experience with any others yet. If you have not tried a konjac sponge yet, I highly recommend giving one a try. As I said, I recommend this one, but mainly because it has no odor. Just know that they are not created equal at all. Just like any other product, each has its differences, and quality is not the same.

Product Review of Pure Care 100% Natural Soap Berry Dish Detergent

I was provided this product for free in exchange for my honest review. All opinions and images are my own. This post may contain affiliate links. Disclosure statement.
http://amzn.to/1eFJZL2

I'm no stranger to using soap berries or natural dish soap, as I have used natural products my whole life, thanks to being brought up in a nutrition/health oriented household. (Thanks Mom!)

I've used soap berries for many years for doing laundry, cleaning around the house, and dishes, but I've never seemed to get the right formulation.  I had the opportunity to test and review Pure Care 100% Natural Soap Berry Dish Detergent, so I jumped on it, and couldn't wait to test it out.

The problem I find with a lot of natural dish soaps is that none really are able to cut the grease very well, and I usually have to add more soap to my sponge, so I fully expected to have to do that with this too. It works so well, I did not need to! :) I couldn't believe it!

I also found myself not needing to add more to my sponge as often while doing a sink of dishes. Just shows how poorly the other natural brand I have was at cleaning. I still have a little bit of another natural brand left, so I am still trying to use that up, and started washing a greasy dish, and it wasn't cutting it. I reached for the Pure Care soap nut bottle, and finished washing it with that, and it came off so easily!
I am sold on this! It is a bit expensive, but when I think about having to use MORE of my other natural soaps, it probably comes out about the same.

I've also started using this in the bathroom hand soap container as well. I dilute it in there, but it works great, and is gentle enough to wash hands with. I normally prefer unscented products since I have mcs, and actually did not realize this was going to be scented or I probably wouldn't have gotten it, BUT it is a natural essential orange oil, and is not overpowering in the least. It is very very light and pleasant, and probably aids in cutting the grease so well. I am switching over to this brand for hand washing dishes, and for hand soap in the bathroom as well. I just love it!

Product Review of EcoDefense Pest Repeller

I was provided this product for free in exchange for my honest review. All opinions and images are my own. This post may contain affiliate links. Disclosure statement.

http://amzn.to/1R5HfYU
If you have ever had any issues with pests of any kind, you are well aware that the sprays or deterrents used usually are quite toxic to not only insects or pests, but to humans and animals also.  When I came across this Pest Repeller by EcoDefense, that is an all natural pest repellant, I had to give it a try.

It is not only scent free, which is extremely important for me since I have mcs, but it also is 100% organic.  This particular product from them repels not only rats and mice, but also deer, moles, gophers, squirrels, bats, chipmunks, rabbits, birds and other pests.

It states it is a scent and taste deterrent.  Now, personally, I can't smell a thing. Neither can anyone else in my family. It smells like water.....like nothing. The main ingredient listed on the bottle is Castor oil 75%, and other inert ingredients and water make up the other 25%.  I do not know what the other inert ingredients are, but according to the label, they are so low of a health risk, that they aren't even required to list them. They are EPA registration, MSDS, and FIFRA exempt (Federal insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act).  The other thing I love about this product, is that it is made right here in the USA.  :)  I try to buy USA made when I can.

We live right next door to our grandparent's house.  Unfortunately, they have acquired an enormous amount of items in their home, on their porch, barn etc.  We've been helping them clear it out, and have come across some mice....living and dead.  They also have a raccoon that visits their porch every night because they leave a 32 gallon trash can out there without a lid.

I've sprayed this EcoDefense Pest Repellant all around both of our houses, so as to keep the mice away from us as well, and sprayed their porch and barn also. You know what? We haven't encountered any more mice OR the raccoon so far.  It's been raining an awful lot here, so I've sprayed it twice a week, which it says to anyway for the first week if you have heavy infestations.

I happened to spot a yellow jacket coming out from under our siding in one area, and I sprayed it from quite a distance. That yellow jacket came right back out. He didn't go back in either, not while I was watching anyway. He seemed agitated, so I didn't stay long.  I was highly impressed with how far of a reach the squirt from this bottle can reach though! I sprayed the length of our house, from the side, and it reached the other end, and beyond. That's 16' or more. Perfect if you need to spray something, but don't want to have to get near it!

If you are looking for an organic pest repellant/varmint control, give this brand a try. So far, I am very impressed with it, and even moreso that it doesn't have toxic ingredients that will affect my nervous system, and it can be sprayed indoors as well as outdoors, on plants, vegetation, garden, flowers, vegetables and lawn safely.

If you'd like to read more about the product or what others have to say about it, click on the image above or below this post. This company also has a Money Back Guarantee. "Formulated by professional exterminators Eco Defense is guaranteed effective to work. Try 100% Risk-Free for 60 days and if you have not eliminated your pest problem we will refund 100% of your purchase. No questions asked." Nothing to lose with this company if it doesn't work for you. They stand behind their product 100%.If you are also interested in reviewing products for companies, please take a look at my other blog.  Thanks for stopping by!

Just Because You Don't Understand MCS Doesn't Mean It's Not Real!

Just when I thought my mom understood even a little about MCS, I get the wind knocked out of me. She said that I "won't" go to church! That sent rage through me that I haven't felt in a long time, if ever! There's a HUGE difference between being unable to attend church and just plain not wanting to go. I am fit to be tied! She has no idea what I go through on a daily basis, even though I've been living with her for the past few months and she has known for the last 15+ years, that I've had MCS.  She doesn't understand it, so it's not real in her eyes.

I am not as bad off as a lot of people with MCS, because I am not completely housebound. I still have to be careful of being outside when neighbors are doing their scented laundry in their dryers, when they are spraying their lawns with fertilizer or Roundup etc. I go to stores and supermarkets and restaurants, but have to be careful about where we go and who we sit by, what aisles I can and can't go down, what registers to go to (because either people in line or cashier wreaks of perfume or scented detergent)......I am ever cautious everywhere I go. I almost never pay with cash because of the scents from laundry or perfumes/colognes linger on the bills. When buying new sheets or clothes, I have to wash them at least 7x if not more in borax, soap nuts, and gse, plus let them air outside in the sun before and sometimes after washing. Depending on the item, I may soak it in vinegar and baking soda for days before washing.  When buying new furniture, I have to use carbon sheeting over them for months before I can sit on them without it because of all the formaldehyde released from them.  I am usually unable to rent a car because they are usually NEW and full of all the toxic voc's that come with new vehicles. Travelling by plane is "iffy" because of all the potentially scented people, not to mention the pesticides that are sprayed on our planes! Attending any type of public event is very trying, ESPECIALLY CHURCH.  Too many people feel that church and perfume go hand in hand. They are to "look" or "dress" their best and they feel that dousing themselves full of toxic chemicals is part of that ritual.  Church is something I greatly miss and to have my own mother use the word "won't" go has hit me in the gut......it was then that I realized, she STILL really doesn't "get it".

It's amazing to me how complete strangers or former co-workers looked out for me and protected me from situations that would've been extremely dangerous for me to be in, yet my own mother thinks it isn't real because she doesn't understand it!  Boggles my mind!

Our livers filter toxins every second of every day. There's a saturation point though.....when more toxins are coming in than our livers can handle, it spills over into our systems and creates havoc with our nervous systems and bodies, hence comes diseases and yes, multiple chemical sensitivity. You never know when your liver has reached it's filtering capacity and will runneth over.  Think about it, the next time you use that scented detergent, or spray Roundup, or get in that new vehicle, buy that new mattress, plug in that air freshener.........it's all a toxic soup full of chemicals invading your system and you don't even know it. Just because it's sold in stores and sitting on that shelf does NOT make it safe! Fragrances are NOT tested for human safety!

If you have a loved one or friend/co-worker in your life that has multiple chemical sensitivity, be ever careful of what you say to them. Depression is quite severe in some of us as our lives and lifestyles have forever been changed/altered. Suicide is extremely high among those of us with MCS. Unless you have it yourself, you really have no idea what that person goes through second by second of every single day.  Breathing fresh air is something of the past and being able to freely go anywhere is something those that do not have mcs, take for granted. Be very careful how you treat them and what you say, for tomorrow this could be your life.......it really happens that quickly!

Paint so safe you can EAT IT!

We have found a very very safe paint company made by ECOSPAINTS and this paint is so safe and non-toxic and NO VOC’s at all, that you can literally EAT IT!!! We were able to use the paint for ceiling and walls and had no fumes whatsoever. It was such a pleasant experience to not have to worry about airing the place out, having someone else do the paint etc. I could be in the rooms while they were being painted.......I'm telling you, I was just so amazed! It sure felt so good to not have to worry about our health suffering due to paint.

My fiance' has asthma and I have MCS, so, it was extremely important that the paint we used be NO VOC, not just low-voc. In the past, I had used Sherwin Williams Harmony paint in one of my bedrooms and at the time, I had no idea that tinting it would add voc's to the paint and they didn't tell me either, even though I was very adamant about needing it to be voc free and no fumes etc.  It did have fumes, not as much as it would've if it was regular paint, but years later, there is still a smell in that room.  :( We no longer live there.

Please, I urge anyone to go to http://www.ecospaints.net to look at the products they have and order FREE samples if you like! I DID! Last year, I ordered about 10 different colors and they even ship the samples FREE too! So, there is NO reason not to try them out. They have a full color brochure online to choose from and if you want that sent in your sample order (which I highly recommend since computer screens can alter the true color a bit) include that in your order as well. In the photo above you can see the color brochure, the paint samples I ordered and I included 2 of the cans of paint we decided on so you can see how they are packaged. We ended up ordering quite a bit of paint, actually, because this new place we moved to needed every room painted. So, the whole interior of the house.

Before I had placed my order, I called and spoke with them because I had many questions having MCS and they were extremely friendly and helpful! They are a 20+ year old company from the UK and now have a place here in the USA in SC. They will even custom order colors for you and still NO VOC’s in the paint. I am not kidding ~ you could eat it if you wanted to and it would not hurt you one bit! When people tell me their products are “mcs safe”, one of the first things I ask them is, “can you eat/drink/ingest it” and that shocks them, but it gets the point across that it must not be THAT safe if you can’t do that! To me SAFEST means FOOD GRADE ingredients and ECOSPAINTS IS that company! I know I probably sound like a salesman from the company, but I assure you I am not. I just like to spread the word about great products that are MCS safe when I find them.  God Bless and good luck to all with MCS and finding safe products to use whatever project you are doing.

Next time you need, stain, paint, varnishes, please turn to http://ecospaints.net and give them a try. You will not be disappointed and you will not be recovering from any toxic fumes.  :)  Thank you ECOSPAINTS!!!

****Just a note of warning that I really feel I must add due to a horrible experience with another company. We were going to move into a friend's house apartment and he needed his hardwood floors redone and we knew that if regular polyurethane was used there would be no chance of us living there. So, I searched and searched for safe products to use and came across AFM Safecoat polyurethane. It was worse than if we had chosen Minwax water based polyurethane. The product never even cured after weeks and it smelled to high heaven. We'd tried everything to get rid of the fumes from PureAyre, zeolite, kitty litter with carbon granules, vinegar, heat, airing the place out, large cans of coffee granules etc. NOTHING worked. I could not even attempt to enter the premises! The tenants upstairs were even complaining to our friend (their landlord) about the fumes in their apartment! We contacted AFM about the horrible fumes and the fact that the product never cured and we never got a response! In the end the floor had to be sanded and redone with a regular product and we didn't move in. So, although I am sure AFM may have SOME products that are safe, our experience was one we wouldn't wish on anyone and I certainly can't recommend them. If you do a search on it, you will find others that had horrible experiences also. One family couldn't move into their home after a professional applied it because the smell was just too toxic! Just because "safe" is in the name, doesn't mean it is.
